Gmail and other google tools

I finally gave up on thunderbird about a week ago. It’s a nice email client but I could never get the junk mail filters to be very useful. I use Outlook on my personal machine but these days I spend all my time on my work laptop and Outlook handles my work mail there…. I don’t like mixing the two. Thunderbird’s suckiness caused me to move all my pop3 accounts to gmail. So far, this has been a brilliant move. The only hiccup was a virus email that gmail wouldn’t download but left on the server. I wish it would download it and clean the email then simply mark as junk but nothing is perfect.

Thanks to the pop3 gmail move I can handle most of my record keeping from my personalized google homepage. I long ago switched my blog reader to google reader and I also use google notebook to handle my action lists for each day. I just started using google spreadsheets too so everything can all be managed from one place. Side note: google spreadsheets are veeeeeery basic. As a single user tool, I had more functionality on my Apple IIe back in the 80′s.
