Compared to last year, I thought this year was pretty lame. For me, last year had new Social Distortion, Iron & Wine, Rilo Kiley, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Green Day, Modest Mouse, and more. All of which got extended playing time in my cd player. I’m sure that I’m even leaving a few albums off that list that I don’t remember right now too. This year… not so much. Here’s a few that I’ve enjoyed in no particular order.

Death Cab for Cutie – Plans
LCD Soundsystem – LCD Soundsystem
New Pornographers – Twin Cinema
Bloc Party – Silent Alarm

And a few that I haven’t listened to enough to decide about:
Wolf Parade – Apologies To The Queen Mary
My Morning Jacket – Z
Devendra Banhart – Cripple Crow
Spoon – Gimme Fiction
Sufjan Stevens – Illinois
The Hold Steady – Separation Sunday

There’s still a bunch of stuff I’m leaving off this list so I’ll make a more definitive post in a few weeks before 2006 begins.

I’ve sorta used audioscrobbler’s winamp plugin to track songs for a few months now. I mostly listen to podcasts at work now though but it’s still cool to see what other artists people are listening to that might be listening to similar stuff as yourself. Oh well, check it out if you haven’t already.
